New Zealand Study Visa
In New Zealand, worker rights are available to international students while studying.
Along with studies
New Zealand only allows you to work 20 hours a week on a student visa.
Full time students are allowed to work during any course breaks, even the ones in between the two semesters (June to July).
Those who are working on a doctorate or a research master’s degree are allowed to work full-time at any type of job. No permission is needed in order to do so, as long as one has an eligible student visa.
Those who speak English as their primary language are allowed to work 20 hours per week during the semester. There is no requirement for any special permission to work. Those who don’t speak English as their primary language will need to go through variance process in order to obtain employment while on visa.
