Federal government scraps 72-hour pre-departure PCR test

The federal government has announced a major change to testing protocols for overseas arrivals which will see the pre-departure PCR test requirement scrapped. From 1am on Sunday, January 23 international travellers will be allowed to return a negative COVID-19 test result via a rapid antigen test 24 hours prior to departure instead of the previously required PCR test 72 hours before flying out to Australia.
