US student visas to hit post-pandemic high in 2023

US student visa issuance surpassed pre-pandemic levels in 2022 and government officials expect even higher numbers of F-1 visa approvals this fiscal year. New data from the US state department shows 411,131 F-1 visas were issued in total in 2022, compared to 364,204 in 2019 (the last year unaffected by the pandemic). Based on current trends, the government expects visa issuances for students to be even higher in 2023 than last year. According to a state department official, over 393,000 F-1 visas have been issued this fiscal year up to the beginning of August.
