SDS Stream Eligibility Criteria

• To be eligible for the SDS Stream, applicants must:
• Secure enrollment at a Designated Learning Institution.
• Apply from outside Canada.
• Show proof of first-year tuition fee payment.
• Hold a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with at least CAD 20,635 (increased from CAD 10,000).
• For students heading to Quebec, adhere to Quebec's financial criteria and hold a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ).
• Undergo necessary medical exams and provide a police clearance certificate, if required.
• Present recent educational transcripts.

• Score the requisite marks in approved language proficiency tests (Online tests are not accepted).

Language Proficiency Assessments

To be eligible for the SDS Stream, applicants must also submit the result of a valid English language test, which must be taken in person. Online English language tests are not accepted. English language proficiency tests approved under SDS are as follows.

The Canadian Embassy may request applicants to submit additional documents based on their cases to strengthen their application. Applicants whose applications don't meet the SDS eligibility criteria may still be eligible through the standard study permit application process.
