Canada SDS Study Visa Requirements 2024
Pursuing education in Canada is an attractive option for Indian students. According to IRCC data, more than 9,00,000 international students chose to study in Canada in 2023, with a significant number of students from India.
To study in Canada, most students need to apply for a study visa. Issued by Canadian authorities, it authorizes foreign nationals to enrol in designated educational institutions. It is important to understand that this permit does not function as a visa; Applicants are required to obtain a visitor visa or eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization), which is usually issued along with a study permit.
The SDS Stream
Indian students have the option to apply for a study permit through two distinct methods: the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and the standard study permit application process. The SDS offers a quicker visa processing time, providing a more efficient and streamlined approach to visa applications.Top of Form
