Work after graduating in Germany

As per the DAAD, around 40% of international students choose to stay back to apply for their Post Study Work Visa in Germany. To find a suitable job, you can extend your Residence Permit (RP) by up to 18 months after completing your study program. However, you will have to demonstrate that you can cover your living costs and will work in the area relevant to your qualifications. In other words, you will not be able to work there as a waiter or any other job for which you have not got any training. During this period, after finding relevant employment, you will be able to stay there for an additional two years, with a possibility to extend your visa for multiple times. If you completed eight years in Germany, then you will be eligible for applying for Citizenship, provided you fulfill all the eligibility requirements, including the German language.
