Singapore Student Visa
Singapore continues to stand out as one of the top study destinations for Indian students, renowned for its world-class education, cultural diversity, and economic opportunities. The city-state offers an excellent education system aligned with international standards, and many prestigious foreign universities have campuses in Singapore. Additionally, the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) by the Singapore government helps lower tuition costs for full-time students, making it an affordable alternative to countries like the UK and the USA.
Students from across the globe are drawn to Singapore not only for its academic excellence but also for the chance to build international connections and networks. With English widely spoken, communication is seamless, creating a comfortable and enriching learning environment.
What is a Student Pass?
A Student Pass in Singapore is equivalent to a student visa. There is no distinction between the two terms. This pass is mandatory for all international students enrolling in full-time courses at accredited institutions.
The process of applying for a Student Pass varies depending on the type of educational institution:
- Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs)
- Institutes of Technical Education (ITE)
- Private Educational Institutions (PEIs)
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is responsible for approving Student Pass applications.
Who Does Not Require a Student Pass?
A Student Pass is not required if the student:
- Holds an Immigration Exemption Order.
- Has a Short-Term Visit Pass and is enrolling in a short course that lasts less than 30 days.
